Credit River coho salmon, today
Coho arrive on the Credit in October, behind the main Chinook push. Smaller and more acrobatic than Chinook, they hold higher in the water column and are far more willing to chase a fly or a lure.
How to fish it
Coho respond well to swung flies and small spoons — a size 2 silver spoon retrieved steadily through a pool can be deadly. Focus on the lower river, particularly the pools below Erindale Park.
The Hwy 403–Britannia reach is closed August 15 to December 31. Erindale Park is downstream of Hwy 403 and open. Confirm the current rules in the Ontario fishing regulations for Zone 16 before you fish.
